Jim O'Rourke

27/6/2000 (Meltdown Festival, London RFH)

Jim O'Rourke Bootleg

Art Pop, Chamber Folk || Drone, Post-Rock, Avant-Garde Songwriter Jazz

///

Jim O'Rourke is my favourite artist of all time... or at least one of them. This bootleg is my second favourite from him, as well as it being one of the greatest live performances ever conceived by a human being on earth. It's really hard to put this stellar release to words, I haven't archived anything in a while, it's a slow process. This is barely anywhere online, so I wanted to upload this in hopes that everyone will get around it.

Live Acoustic Set 30.8.94

Only the Side B archived

live acoustic set on 2NUR-FM's "Newbeat"

Newcastle Band Archiving

Lo-Fi Folk/Rock || Avant-Folk, Indie Rock, Indie Folk

///

This is a release that I have personally "bootlegged' if you want to call it that, from one of my mothers bands from 29 years ago. Bias aside, this is actually a really great lo-fi tape with talented musicians playing some great songs on a live acoustic set on a radio in Newcastle. My mother showed me this yesterday, and I wanted to show people I know this because I was genuinely surprised by how authentic and colourful the songs on here are. I didn't bother archiving the first half, my mother is an extremely talented professional pianist, but it wouldn't fit on something like this. You are able to download it for free off my archive page or the BandCamp page I put up for this release.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Sonata No. 13 In B Flat Major, K. 333 - Sonata No. 17 In D Major, K. 576

Performed by; Mitsuko Uchida

Classical Music || Classical Period

///

Usually, I find Mozart to be a fairly overrated composer when it comes to the substance of his works, however I majorly aspire his understand on art's importance of life, and his prevailing aim to achieve human emotion through music. Music = Art, Art = Life, Life = Human, we cannot live without music and art... well at least that's how I perceive the nature I live in, both individually and culturally. When it comes to Mozart's works, I find his Sonata's to be the truest and excellent compositions in his catalogue, and Uchida's performances are stellar, especially on these two numbers. Beautiful playing, great composition, easily one of my favourite Mozart releases.

Soudan Pays des Nouba

Sudan, music from. || Nubian Music, Field Recordings

///

The true beauty of running an archive page is that it serves as a reminder that art has an interesting concept, where a collection of musical performances such as this one, can showcase a distorted replication of someone else's musical experience of the past, whether you picked it up physically, discovered it through browsing the internet, or even in the midst of the creation of the project. Practically, everything you hear whether thou-self is the creator or responder, the composite of sounds and frequencies have been heard before, it's now your choice to observe and indulge within your personal conceptualisation of the art that was placed in front of your eyes and ears. In respect to the album, Sudan couldn't be further away from where I live, the cultural and ethnical differences are too vast to compare. However, music will continue to serve its purpose, an artistic and cultural representation of numerous persona's splashing paint on the earth's canvas, all with different brushes, varying in texture, size, and colour. We are all different, the music may objectively sound the same, but we all hear interpret art in response to our connection to it, personally, this thing is a stellar release.

Claudio Monteverdi

Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda / Three Madrigals

Performed by; Mainzer Kammerorchester; Günter Kehr

Classical Music || Baroque Period, Madrigals

///

"Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda" serves as one of Monteverdi's most important pieces within his catalogue of compositions and Madrigal's, an early example of cantata dramatic, vividly capturing the tragic combat of Tancredi and Clorinda, a war between a Christian knight and Saracen warrior. Powerful and emotive vocal performances with beautiful string and harpsichord accompaniment. The three madrigals; SV 117, SV 139, & SV 163c offer some of Monteverdi's most gorgeous, emotionally driven and poignant moments within his repertoire. Günter Kehr and his Mainzer Kammerorchester perform these pieces exceptionally, except for the parts where it doesn't.
